Brown rice green tawa pulao - How to make healthy tawa pulao

Brown rice? Those chewy unpolished grains our dietician asks us to have once a day with curd or mix veg. curries. Have you ever tried a recipe using these wonderful healthy grains? Follow the below given steps and prepare this protein packed green tawa pulao.


Key Utensils used: Non stick skillet (Tawa)

Ingredients: 

  • 1 Bowl cooked brown rice
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp chilly paste
  • 1 cup green pepper (capsicum) chopped
  • 1 cup blanched pigeon pea (हरी तुर / લીલી તુવેર )
  • 1 tbsp Mint powder or Mint paste (ફુદીના નો પાવડર અથવા ચટણી /पुदीने का पाउडर या चटनी )
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • Namak swadanusar
  • 1 tbsp cumin-coriander powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing.

Method:

  1. Put oil on a hot tawa. Sprinkle cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add finely chopped onions and sauté for a minute.
  3. Add ginger, garlic and chilly paste and again sauté till mixture onions turn brown (or untill you start coughing due to chilly sautéing).
  4. Add chopped capsicum and sauté for 2 minutes.
  5. Add blanched pigeon peas and sprinkle #namakswadanusar and mix well
  6. Add cooked brown rice to this.
  7. Sprinkle mint powder, cumin-coriander powder and turmeric powder. 
  8. Sauté on high flame for 3 minutes. 
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves.
